In July of 2005, Rabbi Elie Weissman began his tenure as Rabbi of the Young Israel of Plainview. Rabbi Weissman spent two years studying at Yeshivat Har Etzion, where he was privileged to learn from its Rashei Yeshiva, R. Aharon Lichtenstein זצ"ל and R. Yehuda Amital זצ"ל , and their students. He graduated Yeshiva University with a bachelor's degree in English Literature, ordination from Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, and a master's degree in Bible from Bernard Revel Graduate School. During his time at YU, he served as one of the founders of the Eimatai High School Fellowship.
Rabbi Weissman, a recipient of an Avi Chai Foundation teacher’s grant and innovator of a course in Biblical Literature for the Tikvah Fund, teaches Talmud and Tanach at Yeshiva University High School for Girls. Before moving to Plainview, Rabbi Weissman served as Youth Director at the Young Israel of Great Neck; and Kollel Member, then Rabbinic Intern, at the Young Israel of Hollis Hills/Windsor Park.
In 2010, Yeshiva University High Schools honored our Rabbi as Young Leader of the Year.

Rabbi Weissman enjoy teaching and writing on issues of Talmud, Tanach, and contemporary Jewry.
Avital Weissman completed Nishmat’s Yoetzet Halacha program as part of the first graduating class in the United States, in 2013. Holding a bachelor's degree from Stern College in History and Judaic Studies, Avital went on to obtain her master's degree in Jewish Education from Azrieli Graduate School. She similarly holds a certificate in Educational Technology from the New York Institute of Technology. She has taught at North Shore Hebrew Academy, Yeshiva Har Torah, and currently works at our local Yeshiva HANC Plainview and as the Yoetzet Halacha for the Plainview community.
Rabbi Elie Weissman and Avital have five wonderful children: Tiferet, Leba, Noam, Yehuda and Yair.
