Youth Announcements
Welcome back to Plainview, NCSY and FNL, for our monthly teen shabbaton! Teens, please see the schedule posted in the shul bulletin board
Parent-Child Learning is back! Save the date: Motzai Shabbat, November 16, 6:00 - 7:30 PM. Learning materials will be provided. There will be ice cream and pizza served, as well as a raffle for great prizes. Sponsors are needed for prizes, pizza and ice cream! Sponsorships begin at $18.
Join YIP Youth and the Islanders for Chanukah night at Nassau Coliseum! On Wednesday, November 27, at 7 PM, the Islanders are going to be playing the Winnipeg Jets. There is going to be a menorah lighting and a Chanukah ceremony during the game. In addition, there is going to be a post-game skate on the ice (bring your own skates) Tickets start at $29 per person, and can be bought from zachary.eisenberg@newyorkislanders.com... Introducing.....YIP Youth's Menorah Making Contest! Your children will create their own menorahs at home using any objects or materials they want. The menorah must adhere to the Halachot of a menorah and must be submitted with an index card with the child's name, age, grade, and inspiration for the idea. We will have a display table in the lobby of the shul throughout Chanukah showcasing the childrens' menorahs. The three best menorahs (based on a combination of popular vote, creativity, and beauty) will each win a $10 gift card to Hunki's. Menorahs must be submitted to Josh and Sara no later than erev Shabbat Chanuka (11/29). Winners will be awarded the prizes at the Chanukah Chagigah C(h)arnival, 12/1!
Due to popular demand, the 2nd annual Chanukah Chagigah C(h)arnival will take place on Sunday morning of Chanukah, 12/1! Sufganiyot, arts and crafts, prizes, and lots of fun... Winners of the menorah making contest will also be announced! Stay tuned for more info on our newest program...the DREIDEL CASINO!

YIP Youth is creating a pilot program of an “oneg wheel” and/or “meal wheel,” in order to better cater to your child’s grade. Please email Josh/Sara if you would be interested in hosting a periodic Shabbat event at your home for your child’s circle of friends. This program’s success is dependent on all parents’ participation!

Community Events and Notices
The women's Tehillim group is looking for more women to join and take part in this important chesed on behalf of those who are ill. There's no long-term commitment, simply come whenever you can. We silently complete the entire book of Tehilim, which may be read in Hebrew or English and then read aloud the names of people who could benefit from our tefillot. We usually meet on Monday nights at 8:45 pm at the home of Ruth Lorbert. Please e-mail Ruth for further information at rlorbert@verizon.net. We hope you can join us this Monday night.
Join our Ongoing Weekly Women's Project in Plainview. Become part of the dynamic Ahavas Yisrael Chaburah Project and join other women in a series of short workshops, which are thought-provoking and inspiring, all focusing on aspects of Ahavas Yisrael, literally love for (the people of) Israel. The AY discussions begin immediately after Tehillim is recited, usually at approximately 9:15. These discussions are designed to be brief, only 10-15 minutes with additional weekly take-home suggestions.
